80s Weekend Concert featured Blondie, Berlin and other popular music artists.

Once again at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles, California held a concert of a few popular 80s groups and music artists for the 80s' Weekend #6 concert on July 28, 2018 presented by K-Earth 101.

Fans got to enjoy a great line up of music artists. K-Earth 101 has held a few concerts at the Microsoft Theater. Two dates in July presented Blondie, Adam Ant, Marc Almond of Soft Cell, Thomas Dolby and Berlin.

For we all know that 80s music was very popular and still has many fans listening to it on the radio today. 80s music was dance music. The music consists of New wave, Disco, Italo Disco, Euro Disco, Dance-pop. Rock music had its own style in the 80s as Soft Rock, Glam Metal and Thrash metal. Digital recording associated with Synthesizers became popular as well. Electronic genres featuring electro, techno, house, freestyle and Eurodance were also popular in the club scene.

However, K-Earth 101 presented New wave and Punk music artists for their line-up for the fun concert.

Thomas Dolby is an English musician, singer and producer. His best hits were “She Blinded Me with Science” which came out in 1982 and another single in 1984 “Hyperactive”. This year Dolby will lead a Peabody’s Music for a new program at Johns Hopkins University for fall semester. He incorporate pop music electronic instruments in is musical sound.

Marc Almond is an English singer / Songwriter. He began performing and recording in a new wave duo “Soft Cell”. His collaborations include a duet with Gene Pitney with one single “Something’s Gotten Hold of my Heart”. He has sold over 30 million records worldwide. He has been appointed Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE). Soft Cell duo hit “Tainted Love” hit UK No.1, Bedsitter (UK No.4), Say Hello, Wave Goodbye (UK No. 3), Torch (UK No. 2) where a few of the duo’s hits.

Berlin are an American new wave band originally formed in California. In the 80s’ their popular hits included “Sex I’m A…”, “No More Words” and “Take my Breath Away” from the Top Gun film in 1986. Band members included John Crawford (Bass, Vocals), Terri Nunn (Vocals), David Diamond (Keyboards), Ric Olsen (Guitarist), Matt Reid (Keyboards) and Rod Learned (Drums). Some of their popular hits were “Information” in 1980, “Pleasure Victim” in 1982, “Love Life” in 1984, “Count Three & Pray” in 1986, and “Voyeur” in 2002. The band has had many members over the years.

Adam Ant is an English singer and musician. He became popular as the lead singer of a new wave group called Adam and the Ants. “Dirk Wears White Sox” in 1979, “Kings of the Wild Frontier” in 1980 and “Prince Charming” in 1981 were some of the hits Adam and the Ants were popular for. He later became solo between 1980 to 1983 capturing popular hits such as “Friend or Foe” in 1982, “Strip” in 1983, “Vive Le Rock” in 185, “Manners & Physique” in 1990 and so on. He was also known to be in two dozen films and television episodes from 1985 to 2003 and going strong today.

Lastly, Blondie is an American Rock bank founded by Debby Harry and Guitarist Chris Stein. New wave and Punk music was their style in the mid-late 1970s. The first two albums were very successful in the United Kingdom and Australia. In the United States Blondie was regarded as an underground band, but popular. In 1978, they released Parallel Lines. They had several single hits such as “Heart of Glass”, “Call Me”, “Rapture” and “The Tide is High”. The group toured and sold over 40 million records worldwide. To this day, their hits can still be heard at clubs and the radio.
